Ecology and Environment
The biological world is structured as a network of organisms ranging from species up to the level of the biosphere entangled with ecological factors. Relations of organisms and their interactions with the environment is very complex and influencing each other for maintaining a stable diversity. Organisms are subject to environmental pressures and the regulatory feedback between organisms and their environment may help them to adapt themselves to thrive well in hostile conditions. Ecosystems regulate the geophysical cycles of energy, climate, soil nutrients, and water that inturn support for the growth of biotic components in close interaction with environment. The environment is dynamically interlinked with the organisms throughout their life and its influence primarily determines the distribution, abundance and proliferation of communities. Human society and the developmental activities radically transformed the ecology of the planet causing massive loss of ecosystem services commonly entitled to all the living organisms.
The science congress will discuss the issues related to the ecosytems, environment and their defining role in sustainable development with particular emphasis on the State of Kerala.
